15 Things About Love… Part 2

We all know what love is, right? But what does it mean to truly love someone?

There are a lot of opinions on what love really is. And what it looks like to truly love someone.

In this series, we look at 15 parts of what it means to love. You can find this list in 1 Corinthians 13.

1. Love Is Not Proud

2. Love Does Not Dishonor Others

We all need support at times. Venting can help us process what we are going through. But if we are not careful, we can cross a line. Venting can easily turn into speaking poorly of someone. Maybe even embarrassing, humiliating, or dishonoring them.

Instead, look for ways to speak about your partner’s good traits. What are they doing well? How have they been a help for you lately? If you really need help, talk to your friends about ways to problem solve the situation – not complain – about your partner.

3. It Is Not Self-Seeking

It is easy to look for what we need in a relationship. But when everything becomes all about “me, me, me” we suck the life out of the relationship.

Instead, look for ways to meet your partner’s needs. Help them feel well-loved and satisfied in life. That will motivate them to also meet your needs. In this way, both of your needs are met freely, without any resentment or drudges being built up.
